Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNO): Six individuals have been charged and detained for making derogatory remarks and trying to incite sectarian unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Wednesday. In a post on X, Srinagar police, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that six miscreants have been charged under sections 126 & 170 of the BNSS and have been detained in central jail, Srinagar, for inciting sectarian unrest through derogatory remarks. The police said that the public is warned that any individual found engaging in similar unlawful activities, including posting or sharing sectarian content with the intent to create division or disturb public harmony, will meet the same fate. Earlier, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir expressed "grave concern" over derogatory remarks made by an individual against the revered companions of Prophet Mohammad (SAW) with police stating it has taken cognisance of the matter and some individuals were being questioned—(KNO)
